Blog 94: How to Create a Home That Whispers 'You’ve Got This, Mama’, with Sarah!
Create a calm, clutter-free home that supports motherhood.
Introduction
Let's be real, when your kitchen bench is buried under life admin and school notes, inner peace feels like a fantasy. That's why I sat down with Sarah Potts, a professional home organiser and certified calm creator Sarah. We talked about clutter, clarity, and how your home can stop yelling at you. If you're a mum craving space to breathe (physically and emotionally), this chat will feel like a deep exhale. No judgment, no overwhelm, just grounded, gentle wisdom that hits home and Whispers to: ‘You’ve Got This, Mama’.

9 Questions for Sarah
1. As a fellow Generator in Human Design, how do you tap into your sacral 'yes' when working with clients or choosing which spaces to take on?
I'm a Manifesting Generator, so I naturally have a lot of energy, but only when it's aligned. That sacral response is everything. It's either a full-body yes or a subtle no. I've learnt the hard way what happens when I ignore that no.
There have been times when I really wanted to help someone. The logic made sense. They were lovely. But deep down, my body said, "This isn't the one." I took it on anyway, and every time, it felt heavy and draining.
Now, I trust that feeling. My best projects come from mutual alignment. When there's openness, trust and readiness for real change, that's when the work flows. Being a Mani Gen means I'm not here to force anything. I'm here to respond to what feels right and move forward with clarity.
2. Many mums in my community feel that clutter adds to their mental load. What three small shifts can they make today to create calmer at home without being overwhelmed?
Start with clarity, not perfection. These three shifts can create calm without burnout:
a. Declutter by category, not room. Choose one category, such as drink bottles, kids' crafts, or skincare. When you see everything from one category in one place, it becomes easier to make decisions about what stays and what goes.
b. Pause before you purchase. Ask yourself, "Do I already have something like this?" or "Is this a need or a quick fix?" Intentional buying is one of the simplest ways to stop clutter before it starts.
c. Clear your bench and drop zone daily. Whether it's the kitchen bench, dining table or hallway console, these areas tend to collect life's mental load. Taking a couple of minutes to reset them tells your nervous system, "This space is mine. I'm in control."
- I often speak about reconnecting with our inner selves. How do you see home organisation supporting emotional wellbeing and identity, especially in the messy seasons of motherhood?
When life feels messy, our homes often reflect that chaos. But they can also become tools for grounding.
Letting go of what no longer fits - whether it's clothes from another stage of life, half-finished projects, or items tied to a past version of ourselves - creates space for who we are now.
I see women rediscover their preferences, pace and identity through this process. A home reset permits them to ask, "What do I want life to feel like right now?"
That's where the real transformation happens.
4. What’s your take on the link between physical clutter and mental fog? And how can mums start clearing both without feeling like they’re failing?
Clutter is unmade decisions. When your surroundings are full of things that need sorting, choosing, or moving, your brain becomes fatigued from making decisions.
You don't need to do everything. You just need to start and finish something small.
That could be a category like kids' shoes or water bottles. Seeing everything in one place helps you make clearer choices.
Or it could be a space, such as a drawer or a shelf. Choose what feels manageable for you at this time.
There's no perfect starting point. It's about building trust with yourself through small, complete actions. One finished task clears more mental fog than five half-done ones.

5. You have such a calm, grounded presence online. What daily rituals or habits help you stay balanced while helping others find Zen in their spaces?
Thank you. That means a lot.
I've found I function best when I protect my nervous system and avoid overstimulation. These are a few simple things that help:
· I dim the lights once the sun goes down. It's my signal to wind down and soften into rest.
· No screens before bed. When I honour that, my sleep quality noticeably improves.
· I limit caffeine during the day. A cacao smoothie is my gentle energy boost. Anything more and I tend to have a restless night.
· My bedroom is clutter-free. Nothing is stored under the bed. According to Feng Shui, that space holds energetic influence, and storing things with emotion or history underneath can impact the quality of your sleep.
· Clear bedside tables. When I wake up, I don't want the first thing I see to be a mess or visual clutter.
· I reset my living spaces each day. Because I don't hold onto clutter and have systems that work, it only takes a few minutes. That small habit keeps my home feeling calm.
· I use music to shift my mood. Sometimes it's a favourite song I can sing and dance to. Other times, I listen to 528 Hz to help regulate my nervous system and come back to centre.
These are not strict rules. Just small things that help me feel grounded and supported.
6. For a mum who feels stuck in survival mode, what’s one area of her home she could focus on that would create the biggest shift in energy or motivation?
Start with the kitchen bench or dining table.
They're often the most visible and the most cluttered. When that space is clear, you feel it instantly. It creates breathing room and gives you a win you can see.
Even if the rest of the house feels messy, that one clear surface reminds you that calm is possible.
7. How do you honour your energy and boundaries as a home organiser, especially when working with emotional attachments or resistance from clients?
I always lead with empathy, not pressure. It's completely normal for clients to feel attached to certain items, especially sentimental ones.
Rather than rush the process, I ask, “How does this item make you feel?"
That question opens the door to reflection and often helps them find clarity on what truly serves them.
I guide gently but keep things moving. If emotions come up, we pause. But we always return to progress.
Personally, I've built rituals to help me reset and stay clear:
· I listen to music before and after a session, depending on how I want to feel.
· A shower or a dip in the ocean helps me wash off any energy that isn't mine.
· Walking barefoot on grass or sand is a grounding practice I return to often.
I take on a limited number of clients and give myself spacious days in between. That lets me stay fully present without burning out.
8. What would it say if your home could whisper one affirmation to a tired mama walking through the door?
"You don't have to do it all. Be gentle with yourself."
Our homes don't have to be perfect all the time.
They’re not meant to be showrooms. They're places to live, rest and share special moments with the people we love.
There's beauty in the lived-in, comfort in slowing down, and always room to reset - whenever you're ready.
9. Something I wish people knew about me!
I don't judge. Ever.
I've seen every drawer, every junk cupboard, every pile of “I'll deal with this later."
You're not behind. You're just ready now.

5 key takeaways
1. Your home is a mirror. When life feels messy, your space often reflects it… but it can also reset it.
2. Emotional attachment to stuff is normal. Letting go takes empathy, not pressure. Small shifts lead to big emotional freedom
3. Systems > willpower. Clear spaces stay clear when there are simple, sustainable systems in place.
4. Daily rituals matter. Resetting one space daily (like a kitchen bench or bedside table) can completely shift your energy.
5. Boundaries protect your peace. Saying no to misaligned energy (even with clients or purchases!) is powerful and necessary.
